Étretat is a small, but beautiful, authentic seaside village and world famous for its l’Aiguille; an excellent chalk rock that looks like an elephant.
You have a boulevard (with some catering establishments) where you can walk and a beach with pebbles. The beach forms a kind of inlet in the form of a croissant with the ‘elephant’ on the right and another imposing rock on the left. You can also take a walk to both rock tops. How you also want to discover the chalk cliffs; they will conquer your heart.
During the sunset we walked over the beach to the elephant. From a distance you can see why he is called that way, but up close it really looks like a giant elephant. Even the shape of the legs looks very real. We sat there for a few hours, until the sun sank into the sea. It was magical to see the white chalk cliffs change color by the glow of the sun ;
